Democrat leader Nancy Pelosi slammed the SCOTUS decision to not force Americans to violate their religious liberty to bake cakes for radical gay bully activists. Pelosi called the fair ruling “discriminatory,” and intolerable. Of course, there’s no mention of what happened when someone waltzed into a Muslim bakery asking for a “gay wedding cake.” It’s just Christians who are the intolerant bigots, according to liberals! According to Pelosi, no business or organization open to the public should “hide their discriminatory practices behind the guise of religious liberty.”
The Supreme Court ruled Monday in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple, in one of the most closely watched cases of the term. In a 7-2 decision, the justices set aside a Colorado court ruling against the baker — while stopping short of deciding the broader issue of whether a business can refuse to serve gay and lesbian people. The narrow ruling focused on what the court described as anti-religious bias on the Colorado Civil Rights Commission when it ruled against baker Jack Phillips. “The Commission’s hostility was inconsistent with the First Amendment’s guarantee that our laws be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in his majority opinion.
Some protesters on Sunday hurled bottles and fireworks at police officers while others were caught with knives and other weapons. Officials encouraged people to get out of the immediate area “for their safety.” Many of the Antifa activists wore black and covered their faces. Some protesters said they were demonstrating against police brutality; one sign bluntly read “F— the police.” Patriot Prayer, which bills itself as a peaceful First Amendment advocacy group, organized the rally. Antifa claimed to be protesting “to show Patriot Prayer, just as we showed them last year, that their violence and hatred has no place in Portland.”
Casualties at the hands of jihadists during the holiest month for Muslims, Ramadan, have already exceeded 800 this year with 352 deaths and 449 injuries. The most recent count covers deaths and injuries between May 17, when Ramadan started for most Muslim across the globe, and Sunday, May 3 (18 days). That means, on average, terrorists have killed about 20 people and wounded 30 others each day since the beginning of Ramadan. Over the last week alone terrorists killed about 150 people. Some Islamists believe they will reap extra rewards from Allah in paradise if they engage in jihad or die a martyr during Ramadan, prompting a spike in the terrorist attacks during the period every year.
Larson is a doozy. The 37-year-old accountant once ran web forums dedicated to pedophilia and rape, and even admits to raping his ex-wife repeatedly and engaging in pedophilia. HuffPost writers spoke to Larson and got all the disgusting details. “In a phone call, Larson confirmed that he created the now-defunct websites suiped.org and incelocalypse.today ― chat rooms that served as gathering places for pedophiles and violence-minded misogynists like himself,” according to the report. HuffPost said they contacted Larson “after confirming that his campaign website shared an IP address with these forums, among others. His sites were terminated by their domain host on Tuesday”
Our political system is utterly dependent on a watchful, informed electorate, firmly rooted in the rich soil of biblical orality and ethics. And that is what is severely lacking now. The Founders made any number of assumptions about the country they were imposing the Constitution upon. Among the most significant, however, was that the people themselves were constrained by the requirements of virtue, a fear of shame, and the belief that the fear of an all-knowing, all-seeing God would help regulate the society. These were the hedges of the new garden of liberty that the Founders were constructing.
