Bravo for Tying Foreign Policy to Human Rights! Senate Considers Penalty for Turkey if Christian Pastor Not Released

President Trump, Vice President Pence, Secretary of State Pompeo, and the U.S. House and Senate repeatedly have spoken out on the case of the American Christian pastor, Andrew Brunson, who has been held essentially without charges for more than a year in a Turkish jail. Now the U.S. Senate is looking into a very serious penalty if the Muslim-majority nation, led by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has made no secret of his caliphate aspirations and continues to refuse to cooperate. If Turkey continues to hold Brunson, Section 1269 of the National Defense Authorization Act “would effectively require the U.S. Department of Defense to remove Turkey form the F-35 program. This would deny Turkey access to the U.S.-built, state-of-the-art fighter jet – a move that would significantly curtail the modernization of Turkey’s air force. The nation currently hopes to buy 100 of the planes. Read more: http://www.wnd.com/2018/06/senate-considers-penalty-for-turkey-if-christian-pastor-not-released/

Religious Freedom Alert: Supreme Court Could Follow ‘Bake the Cake’ with Decision to Hear ‘Arrange the Flowers’ Case This Week

Religious Freedom Alert: Supreme Court Could Follow ‘Bake the Cake’ with Decision to Hear ‘Arrange the Flowers’ Case This Week – The Court could decide as early as Monday whether to take up a second case in Washington state that revolves around the issue of whether artists can be required to provide services for same-sex weddings even if it goes against their religious beliefs. The court already issued a ruling involving a Colorado baker who refused to make a specialty cake for a same-sex marriage. But that ruling left open the major question about whether religious beliefs are a valid reason for refusing an order. The florist’s lawyers claim that the State of Washington erred in ways that mirrors the “bake the cake” case: “The state, in short, has treated Barronelle with neither tolerance nor respect.” Read more: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/courts/supreme-court-could-follow-bake-the-cake-with-arrange-the-flowers-ruling-this-week

The Global Boy Crisis, The Dad Solution

Among the 60 largest developed nations, boys are falling behind girls in every academic area, as well as in social skills, career preparation, mental health and physical health. In developed nations, with fewer survival concerns, there was less stigma for women to have children without being married. In the U.S., for example, 53 percent of women under 30 who have children are not married. Among these women, dad-deprived children are the norm. Dad-deprived girls suffer considerably, but the boys (with no role model) suffer even more. Dr. Warren Farrell identifies ten causes of the boy crisis, he found that by far the biggest cause is a lack of father involvement. He explains why children who have minimal or no father involvement (who are “dad deprived”) suffer in more than 70 different areas in comparison to children who are “dad-enriched.”

Flaunting Immodesty: nudists flock to mass “au naturel” photo shoots

In a massive degenerate celebration designed to mock common decency, more than 11,000 Australians rushed for the chance to strip for American photographer Spencer Tunick, who has photographed thousands of nudes in group shots around the globe from Bogota to Vienna. Many were willing to travel thousands of miles for a chance to take part. In Mexico City, 18,000 people stripped off in the heart of the city’s Zocalo Square for Tunick, an internationally renowned photographer from New York. Volunteers have also posed naked in freezing temperatures on a Swiss glacier.

Hope for Europe? Italy Defies EU by Turning Away Boats Filled with Undocumented Economic Migrants which are Overwhelming European Social Services

Italy will continue to block boats carrying migrants looking to dock in its ports, Interior Minister Matteo Salvini announced Saturday. The position escalates the new populist government’s fight with other European countries on migration and asylum, thorny issues that have spurred intense debate in the U.S. as well. The huge numbers of illegal aliens across Europe has been associated with soaring crime rates, including rapes and violent assaults as well as migrant populated “no-go” zones where Europeans fear to tread. Salvini said that Italy “no longer wants to be complicit in the business of illegal immigration,” and such boats will have to find other non-Italian ports at which to dock. Italy’s tough stance on migration comes as populist and anti-migration parties surge across the continent.

Court reinstates California Law Allowing Terminally Ill People to End Their Lives

A state appeals court has reinstated — at least for now — California’s law allowing terminally ill people to end their lives. The court issued an immediate stay Friday putting the End of Life Option back into effect. The law allows adults to obtain a prescription for life-ending drugs if a doctor has determined that they have six months or less to live. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Daniel Ottolia declared the law unconstitutional last month, stating that it had been adopted illegally because lawmakers passed it during a special Legislative session called to address other matters. Patients Rights Action Fund, which opposes laws allowing people to take their lives issued a statement, “The people of California, especially the vulnerable, deserve protection and support, not assisted suicide.”
